New Zealand Long Service and Good Conduct Medals - The Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve Decoration
About this decoration
This decoration was instituted in 1985 with eligibility being backdated to 1 December 1977. It is awarded to Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve officers who have completed fifteen years service at least twelve of which must be efficient. The medal is identical to the Royal Naval Reserve Decoration instituted in 1908 and adopted by the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve in 1925. Recipients are entitled to use the post nominal letters RD after their name.

Regulations
Because these awards are time and efficiency based, the relatively simple administration instructions were incorporated in the Royal Warrant.
Clasps and Bars
Clasps are awarded for each additional ten years service at least seven of which must be efficient.
