About The Queen's Medal for Champion Shots of the New Zealand Military Forces

The Queen's Medal for Champion Shots of the New Zealand Military Forces may be awarded annually to the champion shot in the New Zealand Army. The year of the award is inscribed on a clasp attached to the medal ribbon. Subsequent awards to the same person are recognised by the award of further clasps. A similar medal is also available to champion shots in the Royal New Zealand Navy and the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The record number of clasps awarded for any of these three medals to the same recipient is ten, awarded to Lieutenant Commander N.C.G. Peach, RNZN between 1958 and 1973.

Royal Warrant

The Queen's Medal for Champion Shots of the New Zealand Military Forces was instituted by Royal Warrant.

Medal Regulations

There are no separate Regulations for this medal. The administration instructions are included in the Royal Warrant dated 30 April 1869 and in British General Order 418/1923, dated November 1923.

Clasps and Bars

A dated clasp is awarded with each medal.  Subsequent awards to the same person are recognised by the award of further clasps.
