Inaugural Presentation of new Operational Service Medal - the NZOSM

The recipients enter the Grand Hall. The first four veterans carry the hats of remembrance. They are: Mr Colin Fraser (ex-RNZAF - Second Word War, J Force, and the Berlin Airlift), Mr Trevor Dean (ex-NZ Army - Malayan Emergency), Mr Brian Sadd (ex-RNZN - Korea, Malayan Emergency, and Suez in 1956), and Retired Superintendent Paul Mears (NZ Police - United Nations Force in Cyprus between July 1965 and July 1966). Thoughtful reflection by attendees at the ceremony, including Sergeant Craig Pitman RNZAF, Mr Colin Fraser (ex-RNZAF - Second Word War, J Force, and the Berlin Airlift), and Mr Trevor Dean (ex-NZ Army - Malayan Emergency). Mr Fraser and Mr Dean were also among the 16 recipients of the NZOSM at this inaugural presentation.
