SPECIAL PASSENGER BOUND FOR AFGHANISTAN
A special passenger will be onboard the flight transporting 86 New Zealand Defence Force personnel to Afghanistan on Saturday. Zeus Frizzball, a teddy bear gifted to the New Zealand Defence Force by Bishop Viard College, will be joining the Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Bamyan Province.
Zeus is part of the literacy-learning programme for a year eight class at the college, and the students have provided the bear for the NZ troops in Afghanistan as a reminder of home. It is hoped that while Zeus is in Afghanistan he will be able to accompany the kiwis on tasks and report his adventures back to the students. Zeus may require a more robust uniform for his time in Afghanistan.
The bear will be handed to departing personnel at Christchurch Airport on Saturday.
